The Seahawk fever is still alive and well here in Seattle! Most of you have probably forgotten about the Superbowl, but not here! There are signs all over the place still -- announcing that the Seahawks are Superbowl World Champions. (I don't understand the World Champions part...is anyone else in the world competing in the superbowl? no. Oh, well I guess it makes it sound better!)
Before the Superbowl, we attended a pep rally. We were the ONLY ones not in Seahawk fan gear. We just haven't purchased any, ok? We stood out! Some people had painted their faces, shaved heads,, dyed hair...it was intense!
It was a fun rally and very loud. You know how we love to boast we are the loudest fans in the NFL. Well, it's true. I think Rosalyn's eyes looked like this the whole time. Lots of screaming fans!
I caught the Superbowl on the plane ride back to Seattle after being in Utah with Marie. It was a hilarious plane ride. Everyone was watching the game on headphones, and when a great play was made, the plane would erupt with cheers! It was like watching the superbowl with a huge group of friends! Only downside--Rosalyn was trying to sleep and kept getting woken up! :)We had to land before the game was finished. The captain got on and said all electronics would be turned off - including the overhead tv's with the game. There were so many people yelling "boo!" ..."keep flying!" "don't land till the game is over!!" It really made me laugh.
The airport was decked out all over the place with Seahawk gear. This picture doesn't do it justice:
The Wednesday after the Superbowl, there was a huge parade in downtown Seattle. I wanted to go, but not bad enough to take 2 babies by myself. :) So I watched it online. There were 700,000 people in downtown Seattle. It was crazy!! And fun! So many happy people in one spot. It was just so exciting to watch.
This cracks me up. The Governor proclaimed "A MOMENT OF LOUDNESS FOR THE SEAHAWKS AT 12:12pm" - everyone in the state was supposed to scream for 30 seconds at that time. I forgot, but I'm sure there was some screaming going on around here anyway. :)
I'll admit, it's been really fun living in a place where the winning team is. I've never lived anywhere when that's happened. So much community spirit.
So now I guess we are Seahawk fans by default. I always love a winning team! :) I guess now I should learn the name of our quarterback. ha ha!!
