Once upon a time the happiest of girls married the happiest of boys....and they were very happy all day.
We enjoyed such a wonderful wedding weekend celebrating my sister Marie's marriage to Jeff Chapman. Here's some pictures to prove it!
Our trip started off where most trips do...at the airport! We were nervous about flying with two little girls, but we were well prepared and the girls did great.
It was a little crazy getting through security and making it to the gate on time, but we did it with our sanity in tact.
Rosalyn slept on my lap for part of the flight there and back. That was nice!
A big hit: sticky window decals! Brielle played with these for a long time.
Sidenote: I got the idea from this website. I found it on JoAnna's Pinterest---thanks! I have a Pinterest account but I just look on other people's boards for things I need...why do I do that? I have no explanation for why I'm a lame pinner. Thanks to Pinterest for lots of great ideas for flying with children! Anyway, back to the post... :)
We were worn out keeping the girls entertained on the flight. We kept them active and entertained the whole time so they didn't cry! yea!
We stayed with all of our family in a huge home rented on VRBO.com. It was fantastic! We were lucky to have my Grandma and Grandpa Bates stay with us, as well as my Grandpa Ricks!
The night before the wedding we had Jeff Chapman's immediate family come over for a night together eating and playing games. It was so fun to meet them! We hung out in the huge family room.
My mom prepared a couple fun games that included some props below...
I got the idea from Jimmy Fallon to put Jeff and Marie in three-legged pants and make them do a dance. It was so hilarious! My mom sewed these great pants and got funny suspenders that we made them put on as a surprise. Then they had to dance along to the music video "happy" by Pharrell Williams. (If you've never seen it, it's cute! Watch it here)
And then it was time to go our separate ways and prepare for the wedding the next day! I think we all went to bed too late than we wanted to, but isn't that what always happens? We were too excited to sleep!
We slept a few hours and woke up early to get our hair done. Marie just wanted her hair down and curled. I couldn't let her do her own hair for her wedding! So I did it and ended up doing my Mom's, Claire's and
mine too! I loved it, I love doing people's hair! I was up early to get everyone curled and looking fabulous!
The wedding day - March 22, 2014
It was a glorious day with clear blue sky and perfect weather. A perfect day for a wedding!
Here's our family picture - it was cold and windy in the shade, but we managed to get the babies to look at the camera!
I love this happy picture of my Mom that my Aunt Janis took. She was a joyful Mother of the Bride. (with fabulous hair if I do say so myself!)
We enjoyed a yummy luncheon at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
We had a beautiful reception that night at Heritage Gardens in Sandy. It was well attended and turned out great!
Two Grandmas and two babies:
Brielle danced so much at the reception. She got blisters!
Rosalyn was a little doll all day. Thanks Jenny for taking this adorable pic!
They left in a flurry of bubbles. It was so festive and fun! The next day they went on a long honeymoon to a resort in Mexico!
After they left, the DJ was finally able to get some of the yummy food:
When all the guests were gone, we were serenaded to some good karaoke. :)
And then what did we do? We all crashed asleep, home in bed after a glorious day of happiness.
