Easter weekend fun!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! It started off on Thursday night.  I had a little passover dinner in honor of the Last Supper. We ate on the ground and I read information from the Ensign magazine about passover.
This may look like a quaint meal, but I assure you that after this picture was taken, everything became very messy with both girls wanting to touch and eat the food. (And Brielle wanting to step on it!) But it was fun, and I think it will be a tradition for us every year. A great reminder of the meaning of Easter.

Jeff had the next day off work (Good Friday - I'm so happy when the stock market is closed and he's off!) We decided to go on a little road trip.  We drove 2 hours north to Skagit Valley and saw the tulip festival there.  It was an incredibly gorgeous day and perfect for enjoying the beauty of spring!

We drove around and enjoyed the fields and fields of tulips.  We then stopped at "Tulip Town" and got up close and personal with the pretty flowers.
First we went through their display inside.  They had so many varieties of tulips on display - along with their name. I couldn't believe how many different types there are! Every color and every size you can imagine. I don't remember the exact number, but it was hundreds.

I thought this one was beautiful...it's name is Claudia!

And these orange ones are called "world's favorite"

Then we went outside to the fields. Wow.
Jeff carried Rosalyn, and I kept my eye on Brielle.  I should have switched! :) After being stuck in teh car, Brielle was all over the place and there were lots of mud puddles from the rain.  We chased her all over those fields and had lots of near-misses from being mud-soaked. But it was so beautiful and such fun taking it all in, even while chasing a one year old around.

I tried to get a picture of the three of them. It didn't work too well. :) I like this one where it looks like Rosalyn is pushing Brielle. Ha ha.

We did manage to take a family "selfie" - that takes talent!

I enjoyed taking pictures of the flowers with my fancy camera.  I have way too many pictures of tulips now.

Chasing Brielle through the displays:

And then it was nap time, and we quickly headed out to the car  mid-meltdown. Changed diapers, fed, and back on the road!

We drove to Deception Pass. It was incredible!   It was named "Deception Pass" in 1792 by Captain George Vancouver.
There is a bridge from one island to Whidbey Island that you drive over.  We drove across it a couple times, and that was enough for me.  I'm not a fan of heights and I told Jeff you'd have to pay me a lot of money to get out on the pedestrian walkway alongside the cars to get a better view. We passed a lot of folks walking on the bridge. No thank you. I'll stick to the overlook on the side.

And then with both girls napping in the back seat, we headed home.  Just before rush hour traffic, we stopped for a long dinner at IHOP. It just happened to be the best place in the area to stop after checking out a few other places on Yelp.
Brielle is pointing to the syrup bottles...all she wanted to do was drink syrup!
This was our first time with both girls in high chairs now that Rosalyn can sit up on her own. We made quite the mess, but it was fun!

The next day, Saturday we just did lots of chores around the house. Jeff had to catch up on some work, so we went with him and explored the empty office.
Here is Brielle, calculating the interest on her 529 college savings account:
We then went to the mall next door and Jeff got a tie for Easter, and he picked out a skirt and shirt for me! He's got good taste. It just so happened that we were all matching for Easter! I don't know how that could have been more perfect without planning it. We had the girls wear the dresses from Marie's wedding - perfect!
Easter Sunday, we enjoyed a wonderful time in church. I felt so happy all day thinking about my Savior and the opportunity that we have to be resurrected and live as a family together forever. What a wonderful knowledge that is!

Jeff had his arms full of girls and dresses!

I love Brielle's curls on the ends of her hair.  Little baby curls that just happen naturally. I wish my hair would do that! It's so cute.  I don't ever want to cut her hair because I don't want the curls to go away!

Just when I think I have everything together, I do something like this:
For Easter Sunday, I put the girls in each other's dresses.  That's right - I had my 6 month old baby in Brielle's 18 month old dress. And Brielle wore Rosalyn's 6-9 month sized dress. How is that even possible? And you know what? I didn't even notice all day. At the very end of church as we were walking to the car, Brielle's nursery leader mentioned that maybe the dresses were backwards. What? no way. I denied it. Not until we got home did I realize it was true! so funny!! It looks obvious in the pictures as I look back on it...but church is so busy I didn't even notice. ha ha. A great Easter memory for me!

After church we went to dinner with some friends. My friend had put a chocolate bunny on the table-setting, and Brielle got to hers before we could stop her. We tried to get her to eat her dinner, but all she wanted was that chocolate...foil and all! I can't blame her!

It was a wonderful Easter weekend, we saw some great sights and made wonderful memories as a family.
