9 days of Christmas....

I love the holiday season.  Everything is so festive, decorated with lights and there is always music playing wherever you go.  The events before Christmas are just as fun as Christmas! We got out and saw a few things this month.  Here are our "9 days of Christmas"...9 things we did. I'd do 12, but let's be honest...with 2 babies, I'm proud of myself that we did 9 things!

1. We went to the Festival of Nativities that our church organizes each year.  It was amazing! I've never seen anything like it, and I know there are lots of churches that do similar things.  This was absolutely breathtaking, every room was filled with nativities and it was a great start to the Christmas season.  We got to pose for a picture as Mary & Joseph. :) Brielle wanted to hold the baby Jesus:

2. We went with some friends to Garden D'Lights at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens. We did this last year with Brielle in a carrier...it felt like dejavu all over again. :)

3. We watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional.  It was lovely as it is every year, and a good reminder to slow down and remember the reason for the season.  So with that in mind, I bought all of my Christmas presents online, and didn't deal one bit with the crazy traffic and packed malls. Perfect for me this year!

4. I ate a lot of peppermint hershey kisses. I forgot I liked those until I opened up a bag. And peppermint milk shakes. And peppermint bark. And peppermint cocoa. Odd, I don't really like the peppermint candies or candy canes.

5. We went to our Ward's Christmas party.  It was a dress-up-in-your-best-Christmas-dress type of party with a sit-down ham dinner.  Beautifully decorated and very festive.  Not the best party for a 15 month old...so one of us was chasing her around most of the night. :)

Brielle wanted a selfie of her in her Christmas dress:
Rosalyn snoozed most of the party...comfy in many different women's arms....

6. Jeff went to a fancy work Christmas party.  This year family wasn't invited.  He didn't take a picture of himself at the party, (why not? ha ha) so I don't have a picture to go along with this event. And I wasn't invited. But it is still something to add to the blog about our pre-Christmas activities. Even if I didn't get to go.  I'm not bitter....

7. We celebrated Marie's engagement!! I already did a blog post about it, so I don't have much to add. Except they set a date: March 22nd in the Salt Lake City temple.  Can't wait!!

8. We took a weekend trip to my parent's condo in Westport. They just bought it and it is part of a rental property for vacationers. It's gorgeous! Top floor with a lovely view overlooking the beach.  Quaint town, we had fun seeing someplace new.  Even though it was CRAZY packing everything and getting the girls down there.  We had to stop 3 times on a 2 hour drive. Ha ha.  And the amount of stuff I have to pack for babies is quite comical. But it was so fun!

We loved the view!
Brielle liked being somewhere new! She ran all over the place, and was into everything..just exploring. She's very ladylike with her sippy cup on a coaster.
Rosalyn liked the fake fire....mmmm fake warmth.
It was cold outside, but so fun watching the tide and the waves.  Can't wait to go back sometime in the summer.

9.  My favorite part of the season was enjoying this girl:

I love having a baby at Christmastime. It reminds me of baby Jesus and I've had two special Christmases with a little baby in my arms. I spent so much time just holding her and snuggling her and thinking of Mary and the baby Jesus.  This was an extra special Christmas for me because of my two little babies.

What a fun holiday season! It's great every year. Hope it was for you too!
