May is a beautiful month in Washington....the weather has been perfect, the sun is out but it's not too hot, and plants are in full bloom. Jeff and I have loved the Rhododendron plants everywhere! There are beautiful bushes of flowers all over the place. This tall plant is right outside our patio and I've loved it!
But we've been lucky enough to enjoy so much more than flowers this month!
Here's what we've been up to:
We went to downtown Seattle a couple times and enjoyed some street festivals such as...
- Pike Market Cheese Festival -- we ate soooo many cheese samples, it was so fun!
- Washington University Street Fair - lots of cool booths of local artists' wares
- The Seattle Folk Festival. This made Jeff want to get his college folk band back together and play again!
I got to celebrate Mother's Day with my wonderful mother! How fun it is to live closer now so I get to see her more often.
We celebrated Cinco de Mayo by eating tons of Mexican food and striking Mexican poses. :)
I went to Mike's surprise 17th birthday party...it was fun to be there! He's got lots of fun friends that surprised him at a pizza place. Jeff gave him his old electric guitar and amp for his birthday, so he'll be a rockin' teenager in no time!
Pregnancy update:
Pregnancy is going well so far, with one exception. Today I was
diagnosed with Sciatica which is super painful as some pregnant women
out there know. My Sciatic nerve is causing a lot of pain...no fun!
My baby is a cantaloupe! :) Ever week I get a "fruit" update which has been fun. There is a website that explains how the baby is developing each week, as well as a fruit size comparison. It has been fun each week to visualize how big the baby is. This picture was taken a few weeks ago...I definitely have a baby bump
now that can hold a cantaloupe. :)
I finally bought maternity clothes! Yea, I can now breathe....thanks to Jeff for supporting my wardrobe expense!
Jeff and I went to a minor league baseball game (thanks to brother-in-law Robert!) and it was super fun....a good 'ol American experience.
Jeff's job at Fidelity is going well. He's still loving working downtown and especially being involved in the stock market world!
I'm working as a temp worker through Express Personnel, so I get sent out to help out on random jobs. These past 2 weeks I've been working for a Human Resource department, and I've remembered that I really like HR! I've been exposed to it a little through the years, and if I was more career-minded at this time, I'd look into pursuing some more experience in this field.
I've contacted some theaters in the area and I'll be teaching some theater camps the whole month of July for a children's theater on Mercer Island. I wonder if Bill Gates will have any children enrolled? ha ha.
We spent Memorial Day with family in Olympia. We spent the morning getting the garden ready for planting. Then we relaxed, played games, and ate GREAT food!
Here's the before:
Here's the after: Yum!
And here's part of our backyard baseball team:
What a fun month of May!
