fantastically ordinary

I've been trying to think of something fantastically interesting to blog about...but our life is quite ordinary at the moment.  I just have some random thoughts in my head to blog about, so sorry for the long rambling and little pictures. Here's the highlights of the past few weeks if anyone cares to read....

Jeff went to Santa Monica last week for training for work. He enjoyed a nice hotel room along the beach and stuffed his face with per diem dining. Oh, and he learned some stuff at the training too. :)  It was a fun trip for him and a nice break from the usual office work.

That same week, my parents went to Jamaica as a reward for my Dad's work (I know, awesome right?!) and so I got to spend the week "babysitting" Mike & Claire. I got to be a mom for the week, and practiced saying "do your homework!"....and...."practice the piano!" over and over again. :) I spent my days waking up early to get Mike off to seminary and Claire off to school. I played with Claire's hair and braided and curled it in different styles.

I took care of the pets (shocking, I know!), I picked up Claire from track practice after school everyday and drove around like a hot babe in my Mom's mini cooper.
I spent a lot of time outside in the beautiful yard doing some weeding.  I miss having a yard!
I cleaned, ironed, and did laundry. I went to Mike's dress rehearsal for his musical. I enjoyed seeing Mike take his dream date to LDS prom.
It was a fun week, and it is so nice to live closer so that I can be there to help out like this. Claire and I finished the week by baking a Jamaica-themed beach cake to welcome my parents home.  They had a blast in Jamaica, and I can't wait to see pictures when we go home again on Saturday to see Mike perform in his musical.

We are loving Washington in the spring. There are SO many flowers here! It is unbelievable to me...they are beautiful...there are tulips and daffodils everywhere.  I especially enjoy the cherry blossom trees. There is one right as I walk outside of our apartment and it makes me happy every time I walk by.

We are making due with a one-bedroom apartment. Cleaning has been a snap. I vacuumed the other day and realized I could leave my vacuum plugged in and vacuum each room without having to move it....now that tells you how tiny our place is! :) I have loved having a small space to clean.

The down-side of our apartment life so far: our upstairs neighbor who likes to exercise by jumping rope (or jumping jacks?) for an hour every afternoon. Doesn't he realize he is shaking the building by jumping up and down? I don't have the heart to tell him to stop...it's great he's exercising, right? Or maybe I'm just scared to go up there and tell the body builder to quit it. Ah, apartment life.

Does anyone out there know how much Jeff likes kitchen gadgets? Here is the latest one he couldn't resist...a pineapple corer & cutter. One tool cores the pineapple and cuts it. We've used it once and it was fantastic. If you like to eat fresh pineapple, this is great to use.

Saturday we went to a sheep shearing festival at a farm in Bellevue. It was fun to see the furry sheep get shaved naked. Here I am with the sheep. It just felt like the beginning of spring! It was a beautiful, bright sunny day in Washington and we enjoyed all the festivities.  Isn't Jeff great....he never complained I was taking him to a sheep shearing festival. What a great husband. :)

Jeff and I have been on a "24" kick...you know, the TV show? We've got the last few seasons we haven't seen on netflix and we've been addicted. I watch it with my eyes closed and do a lot of screaming...I have a love/hate relationship with that show. But it is intense and exciting...we recommend it if anyone wants to see the invincible Jack Bauer combat terrorists and save the United States. :) He's such an incredible character, we might have to name our firstborn after him...ha! That is, if it's a boy! We find out if it's a boy or girl next week!  I'll be 5 months along next week...I can't believe it. I am feeling much better than before, the morning sickness has finally subsided. I'm feeling the baby move a little each day, which is a surreal experience! I can't wait to find out and see it on an ultrasound.

You made it to the end of my long, random post. Congrats!
