This week we experienced "SuperStorm 2011" as I've heard it called on the news. It seems our lives were shut down the whole week. While I wish I would have had a little more food in the fridge, I'd say we handled it very well! We slept in every day and got a lot of miscellaneous things done around the house. It was like a mini-unexpected vacation! I worked from home on the days Jeff's work closed down the office, and it was a much-needed break from the busy life.
I don't know why I'm smiling in the picture above...I was very cold and was wondering how long it would take before I slipped on the ice.
It was freezing here! Last Monday night it rained freezing rain through the night, which by the morning had turned into snow. So everything was covered in ice with a layer of snow on top which made for pretty dangerous conditions. School ended up being canceled Tuesday thru Friday, and Jeff got Tuesday and Friday off of work! It felt like our whole world shut down for those few days...stores were closed, no one was on the streets and all events were canceled. The sun came out a little and melted the snow, but the ice remained on the road until yesterday. It was like driving on an ice skating rink at times...dangerous! I know the northern states are laughing at Texas and our school closures...but you'd have to see it to believe it. Driving through snow is one thing, but driving on ice is dangerous and Texas just doesn't have the plows and supplies to deal with it in such large quantities...it just wouldn't melt! So go ahead and laugh. :)
What did we do this week? We watched movies! One day we went to see Prince Caspian in 3D...and we were the only ones in the theater!
I guess we were the only ones stupid enough to leave our house and drive. * (All week long Jeff was like a giddy kid...every morning he'd wake up and ask if he could drive me anywhere...all he wanted to do was go out sliding around in his 4-wheel-drive jeep!) *
We saw:
We both liked it....beautiful music, and good gospel message. Thanks, C.S. Lewis!
We also saw:
We saw it at the dollar-movie theater....and we both liked it. It was a different movie, not a big blockbuster, but really makes you think. Robert DuVall is the lead (excellent acting!) and Bill Murray (a favorite of mine!) was in it too. It's about a man wanting to attend his own funeral..alive so he can hear everything. There was a wonderful message of forgiveness.
We also saw:
We saw Wall Street: Money never sleeps. Jeff saw it on his birthday, this was my first time seeing it. We rented this one...and I'm glad we did because I had to have Jeff stop it after every scene and translate what they were talking about. I had a hard time following it on my own, but I actually really liked it!
We had Stake Conference this weekend, and after the adult session Saturday night Jeff and I went over to the Superbowl Tailgate party. It was a fun atmosphere, it's sure been fun to have all these events in town!

Look at my cute hubby in a beanie. This is the first time he didn't care about messing up his hair. That's when you know it is COLD outside!
We're sad for our "stay-cation" to end....(Stay-cation: when you stay home and have a vacation) the snow has melted and it's back to work like normal tomorrow!
