NFL Experience

This weekend we volunteered for the pre-superbowl party Friday & Saturday night. It was a fun experience. We could pick from the following volunteer opportunities: NFL Experience, Hotel Welcome Desks, Airport Greeters, Office Operations, Directing Transportation. We decided that the NFL experience would probably be the most fun. It is a HUGE event at the Dallas Convention Center. We could have spent the whole day there looking at everything if we were able to. A few weeks prior, we were given a uniform and credentials....we got to enter through the VIP entrance, and we just felt cool and official all night. And of course I wore my NFL hat so I would feel even cooler. :) Jeff didn't want to mess up his awesome hair.

Both nights we were assigned to the games. They had a big arena filled with all sorts of games involving footballs…you could punt and see how far you could kick, throw footballs at moving targets, compare yourself to football players’ strength, etc. It was awesome! We were assigned to the bungee booth…they had this huge inflatable that had a bungee cord attached to a vest. The kids put on the vest, grabbed a football and ran as fast as they could. The bungee would then snap them back. So basically I watched kids fall all night and it was hilarious. :) The next night we wanted to try something different so we were assigned to the football-throwing area…they had 10,20,30,40 & 50 yard markers and you were given 2 footballs to throw as far as you could. That was it…so we were catching and throwing footballs ALL NIGHT LONG. :) We would stand at the yard markers and catch the balls that were thrown and then throw them back up to the front. Needless to say we were both pretty tired when we were finished. But we volunteered with a smile, and got some cool memorabilia because of it!

We walked around before our shift and saw some pretty cool stuff. Here is a picture of the Superbowl rings...I want one. They were incredible.

We also got to see the Vince Lombardi trophy.
Jeff is a Colt's player...this is for Curtis. :)
Oh, and we also got to eat free pizza…I think that was the highlight for me! :)

I’m glad we volunteered…it was fun to be a part of the superbowl activities. There is just a lot of excitement right now in the area with the Superbowl coming.
