The month of December!

The month of December is always filled with such fun holiday activities! We did a lot this month and enjoyed the season with our two toddlers who were so excited to see Christmas lights and decorations everywhere.  Here's some things we did this month:

  • I taught my toddler music time each week and we sang lots of fun Christmas songs!
  • We walked around Gene Coulon Park and saw their Christmas lights display - famous "clam" lights every year. The girls liked the lighted hamburger below:
  • I completed my last ballet class 8.5 months pregnant. :) I decided I would take off the month of January...no one wants to see a pregnant lady do leaps across the floor! ha ha.

  • Every night the girls opened a wrapped Christmas book. It was nice incentive to get them in their pj's every night!
  • Jeff attended a Fidelity seminar with a bunch of his clients and co-workers.  He had a client praise him and his abilities in front of the whole crowd! I am so proud.
  • We went to the Bellevue Stake Nativity Festival.  This is a yearly tradition and we love it every year!

Brielle LOVES puzzles...and a nativity puzzle was too fun to resist in the kids' nativity room!

  • Jeff went to a Fidelity work Christmas party and a white elephant gift exchange.
  • Jeff and I went on a lunch date one afternoon to Din Tai Fung.  So yummy and fun! Their dumplings and garlic green beans are a favorite of ours.
  • I went to Olympia in early December to surprise my brother Jeff at Buffalo Wild Wings. We had a surprise party for him because he sold his Mission Foods Distributor business. We are excited for him to have found a buyer and made a profit.  We are excited to see what he does next!
  • Jeff got to visit with his childhood friend, Cole Wagner who came to Bellevue on a layover.

  • Our basement flooded a second time.  It had flooded the week before Thanksgiving, and we had moved everything out of it into the garage.  We were going to put it all back, thinking the problem was solved...thank goodness we didn't get to it that weekend because it flooded again! The drain outside wasn't working and the water-soaked ground seeped into the basement and garage.  Luckily, nothing was ruined...just a few things have water damage. The second time around, our landlord decided to do major work to repair the problem.
They pulled up the basement floor to allow everything to dry down there.  Then outside the house on all sides they dug 4 foot trenches for french drains. The pictures don't do it justice for how deep the trenches eventually got.  They were dug by hand....in the freezing temperatures! Jeff and I were glad we didn't own the home and had to figure out the work! But it was inconvenient for me -- not having a basement or back yard for the girls to play in for over a month.  It is still being finished and might not be complete for another few weeks into January.

  • I went to a goodbye party for Mandy Anderson...my good friend moving to Connecticut! I think it is hard on the friends left behind..she moves on to new adventures and I am left missing her. Come baaaack!!
  • The girls saw Santa at the mall one day.  They talked to him and weren't scared of him! We will save getting pictures with Santa when they aren't so squirmy and better at taking pictures. ha!
  • I went to an ornament exchange at Kristen Smith's.  It is a fun tradition every year!
  • We went to Snowflake Lane in Bellevue one day after Jeff was done with work.  As always, we love the music, the fake snow and the girls love the characters everywhere!

This year they had "ice skaters" in roller skates doing routines.  It was a really fun addition!
  • I had fun playing with Rosalyn at the park while Brielle was in her dance class each week. It is getting colder to play, but we bundle up and play together! She doesn't look happy in this picture, but she loves it, I promise!

  • Brielle decided to take matters into her own hands one night and painted her toe nails.  And that included painting her leg!

  • I sang "Silent Night" in a trio for our ward Sacrament Christmas program.  It was a beautiful arrangement, and I felt so honored to be a part of it!
  • In late December, we drove down to Ridgefield, WA to cousin Karen's gorgeous home for a cousin's lunch.  It turned into a little baby shower for me, which was so fun! I love being with these ladies.

It was a fun and busy month celebrating with our loved ones! I just love Christmas time.
