Our summer weather is coming to an end soon. We had a great summer, enjoying the picture perfect views of Washington. It was pretty hot during July and August though. It was 80s-90s...which doesn't seem bad except no one has air conditioning to retreat to. Our condo was an oven by the end of the day, and we had fans running day and night. Here's a picture of our butter in the process of melting in our kitchen.
I had my squirt bottle ready and sprayed the girls all day long, and got them soaked before putting them down to bed!
We made the most of our summer and did lots of fun things with our little family! Here's a recap:
Jeff was running an errand for me and took Brielle with him. Afterwards he spontaneously stopped at Dick's Sports Goods and got some outdoor fun for us! Brielle loved her little soccer ball, especially during the World Cup.
We stayed cool at splash parks, lakes, and our friend's pool
We celebrated Claire's 15th birthday!
We made regular trips to Costco. Here I am entertaining the girls while we shop. We are becoming big Costco fans. :) We go almost every 2 weeks. We get 4 gallons of milk there every time and a huge thing of eggs. Brielle loves her milk and eggs! Thank goodness for Costco. I like their double carts.
We were driving somewhere and I turned around and both girls were chewing on shoes. They both LOVE shoes. Especially chewing on them! weird.
I went home for a little break from the heat and we enjoyed the kiddie pool.
We took a shuttle to the County Fair and watched Claire dance at it.
Brielle loved all the animals!!
Especially the cats...she LOVES cats.
The girls love Grandpa's hammock.
One Saturday Jeff and I decided to travel up to Rattlesnake Lake. We got KFC and had a family picnic. It is so beautiful, I think it is one of our favorite spots here!
In the background, Brielle is climbing the tree. She wanted to go to the top! Yikes.
I thought it would be cold, but it was warm enough to swim...we weren't prepared. That didn't stop Brielle. We got there and she ran straight for the water and waded in. Couldn't stop her! We all got wet on this trip!
Here's a little movie:
Jeff loves all the water views here, and we often go to playgrounds along the waterfront. This is one in Kirkland. You can see Rosalyn in the grass in the foreground, Brielle in the center (wearing her dress-up hat!), and Jeff on the far right watching her to make sure she doesn't run off the dock!
They have "family nights" once a month at our mall here. We went and got dinner and enjoyed the activities. We were reminded again that we can't go out to eat with these girls. It is madness. I can't even convey the craziness of trying to eat and feed these girls while making a total mess everywhere. At this exact moment, Brielle was dipping her chip in my glass of water, and stirring it with my fork while I was trying to keep Rosalyn's hands out of my salsa cup.
My Mom recently gave me a bunch of baby clothes that I wore. We've been having a retro style over here as I've been putting the girls in them. It's fun for me to see them in my pj's, and rompers. I think Rosalyn looks like a baby doll in this old dress. I was playing around with my camera settings and got this cute picture of her.
The big thing to do around here in July/August is to go blackberry picking. They are wild and ALL OVER the park and trails. I thought I'd join in an try my hand at a homemade blackberry pie.
We went on a walk on the trail alongside our place and picked some blackberries. I washed them up and got them ready!

It was delicious! Wow, now I know why it is so popular, and people mention eating blackberry pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner. :) I think it is going to be a summer tradition over here!
I take the girls out to a park every day. This time there was a mommy-and-me exercise group. Brielle kept copying their exercise moves and it was cracking me up. I guess I should join?
Claire came up and stayed over with us. We had lots of fun together and talked all about her modest fashion account she has on Instagram. It is called Modest_is_hottest__
She started it and got 400 followers in 2 weeks! She's got a good thing going there, and it has been fun.
We took one night to go painting at a ceramic place. She did a hippo and I did a bird. They turned out cute!
Brielle liked having Claire around to play dolls:
The real reason Claire came...was to go to my clogging class with me. Brielle, Claire and I were stomping it up.
And now the weather is turning cooler, and Fall is right around the corner. We are enjoying our last days of sun and blowing dandelions. Our Summer was pretty great...what will fun Fall bring?
