A few weeks ago, Rosalyn and I set off on a grand adventure together....to California! We flew for the weekend to go see my sister Marie and her new life as a married lady.
The flight was full both ways. I'm so lucky that Rosalyn is such a pleasant baby and happy most of the time....even up in the air!
We made it, and Marie gave me a tour of the home they are renting in Pleasant Hill. She also treated me to a song on the guitar - "Wild Thing" - she's taking lessons and that's the first song she learned. Her sweetheart hears it often and he loves it. :)
I spent the next few days just talking and laughing and relaxing with my sis.
We took a trip to Chick Fil A and Hobby Lobby. Both places I miss in WA!
Meanwhile, Jeff stayed home with Brielle. She was in good care, and had lots of fun daddy-daughter play time. Here she is at the local children's museum. He would send me some fun pictures throughout the weekend to prove she was happy and healthy without me. :)
Marie and Jeff took good care of me. She made me truffles the first day...doubled the recipe and we still finished them all before I left. Now that's a good hostess!
We got crafty together. Marie thought it would be fun to do some "wrapped bottles" that she saw on Pinterest. Now I have a cute keepsake from my trip.
Rosalyn liked exploring a new place! Marie didn't have many baby toys of course, so she happily played with kitchen gadgets and anything else she could find and destroy!
We watched a movie, walked around the neighborhood and I got a drive by tour of where they both work. We saw Jeff's family and his parent's home that he grew up in.
Marie's home has tons of fruit trees in the backyard. I had fun picking fruit for her! She had grapes, lemons, kiwi, grapefruit, figs, and apples! Yum.
Saturday we had lunch at the "Foodtruck Roundup." Have you noticed that Food Trucks are all the rage right now? Well, we joined in! We had a yummy lunch and I tried some chocolate covered bacon.
Rosalyn was a trooper. She was loving a vacation in California and all of mommy's attention!
I stopped in and saw my college roommate, Emily and her family. They live in the city next to Marie. It was so fun to catch up on our lives and see her family! Her girls are adorable. It's crazy to think of us both as mothers. Where has the time gone?
Sunday I made some lemonade for Marie and Jeff. Fresh squeezed from their trees! So yummy!
It was such a fun trip and I loved seeing all of Marie's wedding gifts, pictures, and her home decorations. She is happily married and starting her life with a wonderful man. I loved California and can't wait to visit her again!
