"Oh what do you do in the summertime...when all the world is green?"
Here's what we do!
I've been watching a lot of the World Cup. I love watching soccer. I'm rooting for Germany!!
We've been enjoying our lovely summer weather. It's been in the 70-80s here. We've had a few HOT days that are not hot in comparison to the rest of the country, but when no one has AC here, they are hot! We've been keeping fans on non-stop at night because it has been so hot in our place.
We've been going on walks and playing at parks.
Here's Brielle, "please don't make me walk any further!!"
We like to walk along the water everywhere. It's so fun to watch the boats and the beautiful scenery.
I liked how decorated our downtown Bellevue park has been in preparation for the 4th of July. We enjoy walking around this park and the playground.
We eat lots of fruit and Brielle loves apples:
The girls are entertained by our garage:
We went to the annual Strawberry Festival. Last time we went-2 years ago- I was walking around pregnant with Brielle. This year we had 2 babies in a stroller. It was really surreal!! So funny to think about it and how fast our family doubled. :)
It was such a beautiful day and we enjoyed the festivities. They had some fun bands play and then a Chinese group performed a dragon dance. It seemed random, but was entertaining! We have a lot of Asians and Indians in our area because of all the tech companies!
Rosalyn thought it was bore-snore.
I love my little festive strawberry baby!!
It was lots of fun. We came home and I made funnel cakes since we didn't get any festival food there. A fun ending to a fun day.
We went into Seattle one Saturday and went through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitors Center. It was so interesting! It made us want to be billionaires and create a foundation. :) Brielle thought it was pretty cool too.
Jeff was supposed to be watching her....ha ha...I looked over and she was sitting at this computer typing. It was an interactive display where people can type their thoughts on Teacher Effectiveness. The picture is probably too small to see, but she typed a whole lot of nonsense that is displayed on the screen for all to see. Whoops!
We learned just how good we have it here in America. Brielle doesn't need a chlorine dispenser to purify her water, or walk for miles to get water in jugs every day for that matter. It really put things in perspective. It was so well done.
I liked this picture below displayed on block prints. It is of the women in a village somewhere in Africa taking their children to the doctor for a check-up. The little baby is being weighed. There was a lot of talk about this and vaccinations and it made me so grateful for how easy I have it - especially as I took Rosalyn to her 9 month baby well check and I sat in an air-conditioned lobby a few days after seeing this display.
We really liked the Visitors Center and I wouldn't mind going back again.
Rosalyn weighs 19 pounds now and is starting to wear 12 month clothes. It's really weird for me - she is starting to wear the clothes that Brielle was wearing when Rosalyn was a newborn. Here's Rosalyn on the left wearing the outfit that Brielle was wearing in the picture on the right.
We've been playing a lot! Rosalyn just started crawling. Now she can get to whatever she wants and Brielle is having to learn quickly to share her toys...whether she likes it or not. :)
And we went swimming in a friend's pool! We will be doing this a lot more I hope. :)
And Brielle has been tap dancing. Or that's what we call it. :)
We love summer! Even though we don't have children in school, it feels like summer break even though our schedule isn't really that different. :) It still feels nice to be a little more laid back and enjoy the outdoors and summer activities.
