Ring in the New Year!

Jeff and I decided that we wanted to spend New Years Eve somewhere. I started looking online about where we could drive to and discovered that Oklahoma City (only 3 hours away) was having a HUGE New Years Eve party called "Opening Night." They were expecting 75,000 people to come and it was going to be a party! We booked a hotel for the weekend and drove up Saturday afternoon!

We got our wristbands and enjoyed the festivities. There was so much to see and do! We watched an awesome hypnosis show like I've never seen before. All the people on stage are hypnotized....it was hilarious and incredible at the same time!
After that, we saw a cool magic show!

Of course we saw THE KING:

We walked through the Myriad Botanical Gardens...wow!

There were bands playing and we enjoyed the music while we waited for the ball to drop

We counted down till midnight and saw an amazing firework show!

After church on Sunday we drove by the Oklahoma City temple:

and along the way we saw this:
Of course, I had to get a picture for my Dad! And I had to give a salute, since technically I'm still an Express employee. :)

Monday we went to the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial Museum. It was absolutely incredible, sad, disturbing, beautiful and inspiring all at once. We spent several hours there and learned a lot about what occurred April 19th, 1995.
It doesn't feel like that long ago, but were were both surprised as we watched the movies and saw the artifacts at how old-fashioned the clothes and office equipment looked.

There were amazing, heroic stories that we enjoyed, as well as heart-breaking experiences that were truly incredible.

We walked around the memorial park, they did a wonderful job with the museum and park.

We had a wonderful time in Oklahoma City. It was a great trip and a great city with lots to do and lots of good restaurants to try. :) I'm so glad we were able to spend our holiday there!
Happy New Year! We're excited for what 2012 has in store for us!
