The month of June

The month of June for this Tolsma family was eventful. No really, it really was filled with "events." Here are a few that took place....

I participated in a fundraiser for the theater I work for called "Spotlight on the Season". We raised a lot of money, had quite a large crowd, and announced the shows that we will be performing in our season next year. Here are some pictures:

Here I am with my friend & coworker in front of my table I was in charge of:

I am the Education Director at the theater, so I organize all of the classes, student enrollment, instructors, etc. at the theater. Here is a table I set up explaining these things. I set up tables like this at lots of events throughout the year, chamber of commerce meetings, expos, schools, etc. I'm always trying to get more students to enroll!

At the end of the month, I taught a 2-week summer camp called "Witches of Oz" which was a blast! I wrote a play that combined the stories of Wicked & Wizard of Oz and the students performed it. We had a lot of fun. Here they are before the performance:

In July I taught another summer musical theater camp which performed Willy Wonka. I don't have any pictures yet, but it was a whirlwind show! There were 60 students, and I had to find/make costumes for all of them. They performed Willy Wonka and it was adorable.

At the end of the month I auditioned for a part in Hello Dolly. Three rigorous auditions/callbacks later, I was cast as Minnie Fay! I'm super excited, it is a fun part. I've been busy with rehearsals, memorizing lines & choreography. I will perform 3 nights a week during the month of August.

But the biggest event of all this month was Jeff passing the Series 7 & 63 exams! Whoohoo! He has been studying for them ever since he was hired at Fidelity. The Series 7 is an intense financial license exam, one that people compare to the GMAT exam for example.
Doesn't he just look smarter?!?!

Now that he's passed the tests he can do more in the financial world, and help customers with their money decisions. So give him a call...he is brimming with information. :)

Just for fun, here's two questions I just saw from his exam practice book. Do you know the answers?

1. Canadian Dollar Feb 95 calls on the PHLX are quoted at 1.25. Canadian Dollars are trading at 95.25. What is the total premium for 10 contracts?
a. $125
b. $250
c. $1,250
d. $2,500

In case you are wondering....the answer is c.

2. A customer places an order on the NYSE to buy bonds. The order reads "Buy 5M ABC 9s M'12 @ 90 GTC." The customer has entered a:
a. Stop order to buy at 90
b. Limit order to buy at 90
c. Market order to buy
d. Stop limit order to buy

The answer is b. I don't even know what they are talking about. It's greek to me. But he loves it....and these are even the easy questions! The other questions in the book look like a foreign language to me. :) Good job Jeff!

Yes, we all need to refer to him as Power Broker now.
