ouch.

I think I would have rather had a rhinoceros in my back.

Here is my kidney stone saga if anyone cares to read.....
On Thursday, July 8th I woke up at 5:15am in a lot of pain. I waited for it to go away....it didn't and got worse. I ended up waking up Jeff and having him take me to the emergency room. It was awful. I've never had that much pain before and it really scared me. I am grateful Jeff was there at my side...I couldn't even walk or think. Lucky for me, we live close to the hospital and I got in quick and they gave me 4 bags of morphine....yes, that is how much it took to take away the pain. I was pretty sedated after that. :) They took an MRI and realized it was a kidney stone. It was so low already that there was nothing they could do, I just had to wait for it to pass in misery.
I got some pain medication and suffered through the next few days. I was in a lot of pain, and nauseous from the medicine, but couldn't do anything.
I had a summer camp that started on Monday that I was supposed to teach at the theater. I went to it on Monday but was so out of it from the medication. Looking back, I can't believe I did that. :) I ended up going back into the emergency room Monday night because of the pain. I could go into a lot more detail about the ordeal, but I'll spare you.
It took about a week before I really felt it was out of my system....It was a horrible experience, and I don't wish it on my worst enemy. I may be a dramatic person...but that's the truth. :)

That being said, I did learn a few things from this trial. I learned that modern medicine works miracles and how grateful I am for skilled doctors and nurses. I learned that saving up money for emergency reasons is worth it when you need it. I learned that I should drink more water and citrus drinks to prevent kidney stones (although I am still confused by that because I am an obsessed water-drinker.) I learned that having a sense of humor even in stressful situations is helpful. I learned that priesthood blessings and prayers really do work. I learned that when a person is in a lot of pain, it is better for someone clear-headed to make the decisions and take control of the situation. I learned what labor feels like (so they tell me) ha! I gained a greater appreciation of the phrase "this too shall pass."

Thank you for the prayers, calls, texts, gifts, notes, and dinners during my kidney stone week. I am feeling much better now and much more appreciative for my family, friends & kidneys. :)
